The Department of Pathology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, SSM health St. Louis is seeking a board-certified AP/CP Pathologist with subspecialty training in Hematopathology to join the Saint Louis University faculty. This full‑time academic position offers opportunities for teaching, scholarship, and service leadership, with potential for future appointment as Section Medical Director of the Hematopathology Division.

SLUCare physicians are nationally and internationally recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and education.

Role & Practice Environment
Clinical responsibilities include diagnosis and sign‑out of bone marrow biopsies, aspirates and lymph node or other tissue specimens involved with hemato-lymphoid neoplasms, as well as flow cytometry reports and peripheral blood smear morphology review. Participation in service development and consultation activities is expected. Familiarity with or preferably board certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology is highly desirable. Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows is integral to the role, and scholarly activity is encouraged.

The department processes over 13,000 surgical pathology cases annually, including more than 3,000 hematopathology cases from the SSM Health system, affiliated hospitals, and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, and maintains an active consultation service. The successful candidate will join a collegial team of three hematopathologists supporting an annual case mix of approximately 2,000 bone marrow and over 1000 tissue biopsies, plus flow cytometry specimens.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)
  • Board eligible or certified in Hematopathology
  • Eligible for Missouri medical licensure

Academic rank, track, and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
