Hematopathology Fellowship - Accepting applications for 2027-2028

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM)/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) offers a one-year ACGME-approved Hematopathology Fellowship under the directorship of Sanjay Patel, M.D. A second year may be available to qualified fellows who are interested in devoting the majority of the additional year to research. The Hematopathology Laboratory evaluates several thousand specimens annually, including approximately 2000 bone marrow biopsies, 1600 lymph node and extra-nodal tissues, 7000 flow cytometry studies, and 400 cases in consultation or for secondary review. The fellowship training has prepared former fellows for successful careers in academia, private practice, and industry. During their training, fellows are responsible for the clinical diagnostic service of the Hematopathology Laboratory, where they learn an integrated morphologic, immunologic, and molecular diagnostic approach to the evaluation and classification of hematopoietic neoplasms. Fellows have ample exposure to, and thus the opportunity to master, data generation and analysis associated with a variety of ancillary techniques, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetic analysis, and molecular diagnostics.
